ROXUL vs ROCKWOOL: What is the difference?

Summary: Is ROXUL the same as ROCKWOOL? Yes, it is.

Here is what happened.

Roxul is now Rockwool

So, for many years you’ve heard people talk about ROXUL or you’ve worked with ROXUL products, or your specifications said ROXUL.

One day you realize people are referring to ROCKWOOL and ROCKWOOL products and the cut sheets all say ROCKWOOL.

What happened? When did it happen? Why did it happen?

I know, most of you already know this, but just in case you missed it here is the explanation.

ROXUL is the North American division of the ROCKWOOL GROUP, the world’s largest stone wool manufacturer.

Effective January 1, 2018, all segments if ROXUL’S North American Insulation Business rebranded as ROCKWOOL.

The rebranding better aligns the North American brand with the ROCKWOOL parent brand that has been marketed internationally for over 80 years.

Rockfon (acoustic ceiling panels) and Grodan (stone wool substrates for the professional horticultural industry) remains unchanged.
